The meaning we give to fashion and the stories we constantly tell ourselves.
Abstract
What’s the role of the media in the fashion industry and culture in a country like Ecuador? It’s necessary to start by understanding the fashion system and how it has been disseminated through its own languages and symbolism, in order to understand the impact it has generated on the local cultural codes. Communication has played a special role in feeding imaginations, consumption and businesses without respect for local meanings. In fact, local news have never had the prominence or visibility from those who are "outsiders", making the concept of the national complex.
The formats of fashion communication are going through a disruptive moment that puts the traditional system to the test, while making it increasingly necessary to see fashion beyond brands, media and artists. The need to analyze communication formats and their contents in the cultural impact of the development of this industry, which has had environmental, economic and social interference in Ecuador, is not negotiable.
